Institute of bio-fermentation and future food industry opens

The opening ceremony of the China Institute of Bio-fermentation and Future Food Industry was held in the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone in Taixing city, Taizhou of East China's Jiangsu province on May 21.

Guests from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Biotech Fermentation Industry Association and the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology attended the activity.

Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Chen Jian said that the bio-fermentation and future food industry is closely related to dietary nutrition and food safety of the public, and is an important driving force for the development of the health industry.

He urged the institute to leverage the role of university and company, and promote the integration of bio-fermentation industry and future food industry to develop more novel food.

A research institute for food with special medical purposes and a quality supervision and inspection center for fermented food were also unveiled.

In June 2021, the "Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China" was officially inaugurated in the zone.
