A shared laboratory has been established in Huangqiao town, in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province, to enable small and micro food manufacturers to share resources for testing personnel, products, equipment and technology.
Costing 250,000 yuan ($35,155), the laboratory can undertake full chain inspection tasks from the farm to dining tables.
The establishment has reduced the operating costs of small and micro food producers, improved the quality and efficiency of testing, as well as helped enterprises to use limited funds for production and market competition.
Currently, nine enterprises are participating in the shared laboratory and 41 batches of samples have been tested.
In May, the Huangqiao branch of Taixing's bureau for market regulation found that the existing testing personnel of small and micro food production enterprises had insufficient know-how and professional skills in food testing, resulting in low-quality inspections.
To solve the problem, the branch coordinated with large-scale food manufacturers and utilized their existing instruments and testing personnel to explore the establishment of the pilot shared laboratory.
