Throngs of visitors and locals alike had a ball during the Qingming Festival holiday held on April 4-6, as Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province kicked off its annual tourism season.

Statistics revealed that over the three-day break, Taizhou hosted an impressive 2.524 million tourists, generating a substantial tourism revenue of 1.64 billion yuan ($226.81 million).

Highlights of the festivities included the Encounter Taizhou Happiness event at the Fengcheng River Scenic Area, which welcomed over 50,000 people. The spot – located in downtown Taizhou – is a national AAAA-level tourist area combining a great natural landscape and cultural attractions.

Elsewhere, the Qianduo Cole Flower Scenic Area – located in Dongwang village – offered a variety of fun activities like concerts in flower fields, attracting over 110,000 visitors.

Moreover, cultural venues across the city organized special activities such as kite flying and calligraphy exhibitions, inviting allcomers to experience traditional folk culture.

To ensure the safety of tourists, Taizhou's cultural and tourism departments conducted thorough safety inspections before and during the festival. They also urged scenic spots to implement measures to prevent overcrowding and to beef up their safety controls of high-risk tourism activities.
