To meet the needs of people for cultural activities during the summer vacation, Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province has launched over 100 events that cover various performances, exhibitions, lectures and art education courses.

The Taizhou Huaiju Opera Troupe appeared at the Phoenix City Walk commercial center on the evening of July 12, offering fine opera, singing and performances of the pipa, or Chinese lute, to locals.
The troupe will also perform in the city's Liuyuan Garden at 3 pm on July 20 and 27.
In addition to watching the performances, locals can read books in the Taizhou Library. The library has updated the mandatory reading list for students and added nearly 3,000 high-quality books covering literature, technology and history, meeting the different reading needs of locals.

From July 18 to Aug 19, the Taizhou Art Museum is launching a summer art class, where teachers will teach courses on cursive script and flower paintings, among others, enabling everyone to explore the beauty of art.
There is also soccer fun to be had. Suchao, the nickname of the Jiangsu Football City League, is a hot topic this summer. The Taizhou Library is offering themed video viewings, allowing people to enjoy exciting match moments such as goals and saves.
There is also a documentary screening themed on campus football, presenting the stories of grassroots players' struggles and the intense competition of the youth leagues.
