Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, added two national-level agricultural leading enterprises and 15 provincial-level leading enterprises last year, ranking the city first in the province.
The two national-level enterprises are Hesheng Food Group and Jiangsu Baihui Agricultural Development.
Established in 2008, Hesheng Food Group specializes in the fields of chicken breeding, feed processing, broiler breeding and sales, and deep poultry processing.
The group has adopted a model closely involving company, cooperative, base farm and farmer, leading 6,735 peasant households to increase their incomes.
For its part, Jiangsu Baihui Agricultural Development integrates eco-breeding, meat product processing, frozen storage, cold chain logistics and more.
The 15 provincial-level agricultural leading enterprises include Abram (Jiangsu) Animal Health, Xinghua Banqiao Hometown Aquatic Products Breeding and Xinghua Hongsheng Foods.
Taizhou's leadership in nurturing top agricultural firms has been attributed to a "Double Increase" plan for top agricultural enterprises, carried out by the city in recent years.
Related action plans and support policies were released to help leading enterprises increase their investment, conduct intelligent and digital transformation, expand production capacity and improve efficiency.
To date, "Double Increase" funds of 20.03 million yuan ($2.76 million) have been distributed to companies.
