The second batch of national pilot projects that aim to leverage the cultural industry to boost rural vitalization was recently announced, with Xinghua city in East China's Jiangsu province included in the action.
The first county-level city in China to undertake river crab farming and a globally important agricultural cultural heritage area, Xinghua has become a model in rural vitalization by galvanizing its industry potential.
The city has excavated the civilization of Duotian agrosystem that is unique in China and it has also created a cultural and tourism brand out of its crowd-drawing fields of cole flowers, driving the cluster development of homestays, agritainment and agricultural and sideline product processing.

A lucrative river crab industry covering the full cycle of farming, processing and sales has also been developed.
Action has also been undertaken by the city to grow its top agricultural enterprises and to extend the entire industry supply chain.
In addition, by using landscape ornaments, wall paintings and distinctive signage systems, Xinghua is creating a pastoral aesthetic space that changes scenery for visitors with their every step.
