In the first half of this year, Xinghua in Jiangsu province was included in the national 2025 Modern Agricultural Industrial Park project approval list, thanks to its outstanding performance in the grain industry, strength in technological innovation, and ability to increase prosperity among local farmers.
The city occupies less than one thousandth of the country's arable land but contributes nearly two thousandths of the country's grain. It will write a new chapter in the high-quality development of modern agriculture with its grain industry chain.
As a nationally renowned agricultural city, Xinghua has always regarded grain production as its primary agricultural task.
In 2024, the city's total grain production hit over 1.25 million metric tons, including 778,700 tons of rice.

The Xinghua Modern Agricultural Industrial Park includes Diaoyu town, Xingdong town, Daiyao town, Zhongbao town, Duotian sub-district, and the Xinghua Economic Development Zone – located in Lincheng sub-district.
The park's planting area and total grain output ranks fourth and second in the province, respectively. The park has the largest grain trading market in the country and is home to two provincial-level agricultural product processing concentration zones, forming a complete industrial chain from rice order planting to warehousing, drying, processing, and sales.
The park's annual output value has exceeded 17 billion yuan ($2.36 billion), driving employment for more than 30,000 people.
According to plans, the park will invest a total of 2.46 billion yuan (including 100 million yuan in central government subsidies) to implement five major projects made up of 27 smaller projects. They focus on grain yield improvement, the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural product processing industry, agricultural green development, and more.
