A national key scientific research project on nuclear technology led by Professor Wu Hongchun from Xinghua, Jiangsu province and conducted by the Nuclear Engineering Computational Physics Laboratory at Xi'an Jiaotong University in Shannxi province, recently passed its comprehensive acceptance inspection.
The project titled "Autonomous Development, Verification, and Application of Key Design Analysis Software for Liquid Metal Cooled Fast Reactors" has concentrated on centralizing research and development efforts for essential design analysis software specific to liquid metal cooled fast reactors.
This project has advanced several core technologies, secured 10 invention patents and six software copyrights and developed the Loong System, a liquid metal cooled fast reactor calculation and analysis platform.
Third-party testing shows the system's core code autonomy rate has surpassed 95 percent, securing an independently controllable core technology for China.
The successful development of the system is of great significance for the development of fast reactors and other innovative new reactors in China.
Professor Wu has dedicated extensive research to the physical analysis of nuclear reactor cores and has significantly contributed to both technical advancements and the development of talent in China's nuclear energy field.
Wu has achieved many successes but remains focused on his hometown. He has participated multiple times in forums dedicated to improving cooperation between Jiangsu and Shannxi provinces.
