As a traditional agricultural county-level city, Xinghua in Jiangsu province is leveraging technology to promote spring farming and expects a bountiful harvest.
At the 180-hectare organic rice base in Diaoyu town, more than ten laser leveling machines have been shuttling back and forth to help spring farming.
Last year, due to insufficient flatness of the farmland, the base encountered the dilemma of flooding seedlings in low areas and grass growing in high areas, resulting in the low yield of organic rice.
At present, laser leveling machines can strictly control the height difference of the field. "Once the land is leveled, the depth of the water layer can be precisely controlled, and weeds will have no living space," said Ren Huaping, head of the base.
At Xingpin Family Farm in Diduo town, 20 hectares of wheat are in the jointing stage. A crop protection drone has been used to evenly spray herbicide mist over the wheat field.

"Farming now cannot do without these new technology friends," said Wang Baosheng, the farm operator.
In recent years, Xinghua has accelerated its efforts in farmland renovation. By 2025, the city completed the renovation and upgrade of 3,400 hectares and built 333.33 hectares of new farmland. This year, the objective is to renovate an additional 2,000 hectares and to construct 266.67 hectares of new farmland.
