The 4th Yangtze River Delta Foundry Conference was held in Xinghua, Jiangsu province, on Aug 29, with more than 200 attendees discussing industry opportunities and the high-quality development of the foundry industry.
Chen Fengjian, mayor of Xinghua, said that the foundry industry is one of the city's most important industries, and that Xinghua has set out a goal of realizing an industry scale of over 10 billion yuan ($149.01 million) during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).
Officials from the city's Dainan town, Xinghua High-tech Zone, Xinghua Economic Development Zone, Anfeng town, and Chenbao town introduced the industrial foundation and development potential of their respective areas.
Sun Baode, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a report entitled "Reflections on the Future of Solidification Technology" and proposed promoting the scientific development of solidification technology in areas such as theoretical innovation, original material innovation, core technology breakthroughs, and supporting high-end equipment in the face of major national needs.
Wu Rengui, deputy secretary general of the China Foundry Association, interpreted the 2026-30 development plan for the foundry industry, pointing out the trajectory of the industry's future growth.
During the conference, more than 10 experts, scholars, and industry representatives exchanged views on important topics such as the application of AI and casting, industrial equipment upgrading, and the development of high-performance mold steel.
