Taizhou leads Jiangsu with 10 villages selected for signature rural development program

Ten villages in Taizhou have been selected for the 2026 list of Jiangsu's signature rural development cultivation villages, the highest number among all cities in the province.

The selected villages will move forward with rural vitalization efforts centered on six priorities: strengthening industries, preserving local culture, enhancing village character, building more livable communities, improving public services, and promoting grassroots governance.

Among the selected villages is Tushan village in Dalun town, Jiangyan district, which is home to cultural landmarks such as a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree and Huguo Temple. The village has developed industries including a lotus-themed economy, helping drive steady income growth for local residents.

Also on the list is Caowang village in Qianduo town, Xinghua city, where a 7,000-year-old Neolithic site adds historical depth to the rural landscape. The village has tapped into its heritage of straw weaving, fishing farming traditions and canal transport culture, while also pioneering a shrimp-and-lotus co-cultivation model that integrates agriculture, culture and tourism.

Tengxing village in Fenjie town has built its appeal around year-round floral scenery. The village has become a popular destination and has expanded rural tourism through planting and tourism-related services, helping boost collective village income.

The latest recognition underscores Taizhou's growing momentum in advancing high-quality rural development and showcasing distinctive village identities across the city.
