Meilan Group, founded in 1958, is the first chemical enterprise in Taizhou. In 2015, the company launched a project to develop fluorine-containing materials worth 1 billion yuan ($147 million) to expand its industrial footprint.
The first phase of the project, which focused on fluorine raw materials, has already been completed and is operational. The second phase, aimed at large-scale production of environmentally friendly refrigerants, was completed in 2024. The third phase, which will produce high-end fluorine materials, is expected to be finished in September 2026.
According to Chen Ming, general manager of Meilan New Materials, the company's integrated industrial chain provides stable raw material support for technology development and capacity expansion, helping to reduce both research and development and production risks.
Today, Meilan New Materials has become one of China's most comprehensive fluorochemical production bases. Its refrigerant products capture a leading share in the domestic market, and the company is a key supplier to major air-conditioning brands, including Gree, Haier, and Daikin.
The steady demand for its refrigerant products has driven reliable cash flow and a solid market foundation, which, in turn, supports continued upgrades in upstream raw materials and further innovation in downstream fluorine-based materials.
