Taizhou strengthened its agricultural innovation network on May 28 by hosting a matchmaking conference in Shanghai, bringing together leading experts, universities, research institutes and enterprises from across the Yangtze River Delta region.

The event featured one-on-one discussions between academics and businesses to accelerate the commercialization of scientific achievements and ensure that innovative technologies move from the laboratory to agricultural production.

A key outcome of the conference was the establishment of several partnerships. The Shanghai JS Life Sciences Institute signed a cooperation agreement with the Taixing Agricultural Products Processing Park. Universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Jiangnan University, also reached collaboration agreements with Taizhou enterprises.

The conference also released 14 technology needs from Taizhou enterprises and institutions. The projects span four major fields: biological breeding, aquaculture, deep processing of agricultural products and biomanufacturing. The demand-driven innovation initiatives are expected to generate research and development investment of 12.9 million yuan ($1.9 million).

A total of 51 agricultural sci-tech achievements were showcased during the event.
