Cross-border e-commerce is becoming a key driver for Taizhou's foreign trade growth, market expansion and industrial transformation, helping more Made-in-Taizhou products reach global consumers.

According to data from the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the city recorded 281 million yuan ($41.64 million) in cross-border e-commerce transactions in the first half of 2026. Transactions in May and June grew by an average of 130 percent year-on-year. Products including generator sets, sporting goods and new materials are accelerating their entry into markets in Europe, the United States and Australia.

The development has helped local brands gain international recognition. Export clusters in sectors such as electrical machinery, home products and medical equipment have taken shape. The city is now home to more than 1,000 cross-border e-commerce enterprises.

For local manufacturers, cross-border e-commerce is not only a new sales channel but also a catalyst for business transformation. At Zhongsheng Glass Fiber, the company has shifted from relying mainly on exhibitions and traditional platforms to building a multi-channel overseas marketing system combining Alibaba, independent websites and overseas social media.

Last month, the company saw inquiries from the Middle East increase by 40 percent after customers discovered its high-temperature resistance technology through social media videos. In 2025, the company's exports grew 35 percent year-on-year, with cross-border e-commerce accounting for nearly 70 percent of its revenue.

Overseas support networks are also expanding, with one provincial-level and three municipal-level public overseas warehouses established in key markets including the United States, Germany and South Korea.

Beyond infrastructure, Taizhou is strengthening professional support in areas such as product certification, trademark registration and legal compliance. Through its cross-border e-commerce service ecosystem alliance, which includes more than 30 professional service institutions, the city has provided targeted assistance to nearly 200 enterprises.
