During the halftime show of a Suchao match between the cities of Taizhou and Suqian in Jiangsu province, held on July 19, Wu Song Fights a Tiger, a classic part of the Chinese literacy classic Outlaws of the Marsh, was performed by the Xinghua Huaiju Opera Troupe.
In the classic, Wu Song kills a tiger with his bare hands. At the soccer match venue, Wu's actor held a fake tiger and pounded fiercely, causing an uproar of laughter among the audience.
The popular scene also taught many netizens that Shi Nai'an, the author of Outlaws of the Marsh, was born in Xinghua.
Due to the increasing popularity of the creative performance, Xinghua also brought the tiger prop to the Xinghua Museum. An interactive area was set up to allow tourists to act as Wu and read a letter wrote by the tiger to Wu.
Benefiting from the influx of Suchao traffic, Xinghua, known as the cradle of Outlaws of the Marsh, is promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of its traditional culture.
The tiger prop that once appeared in the Suchao competition is arranged in the Xinghua Museum, attracting many tourists to take photos. [Photo/WeChat account: xhlvyou]
