Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province has planned over 1,000 events for the upcoming eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy traditional Chinese opera, appreciate exhibitions, taste delicious food, and visit tourist attractions.
The city, known as the ancestral home of Peking Opera legend Mei Lanfang, will stage a range of opera performances this holiday season. Hailing District Cultural Center will hold an opera at the Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall on Oct 1, and Xieqiao town in Jingjiang, a county-level city of Taizhou, will also host a traditional Chinese opera event.

Having an immersive experience in Taizhou's cultural and museum venues is also a good choice during the holiday. Until Oct 31, the Taizhou Museum will hold a special exhibition on the Confucian culture of Dong Zhongshu, a prominent intellectual and influential politician of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), as well as an exhibition on the art of ancient literati life. For Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Oct 6 this year, there will be a festive night event, featuring experiences such as appreciating traditional Chinese music and hanfu parades.

Visitors can also explore the festive atmosphere of the city's various tourist attractions. Huangqiao town will hold the Qixiang Folk Culture Carnival, featuring drone and fireworks displays, as well as Mid-Autumn Festival moon-viewing activities. Visitors can also enjoy fireworks shows from Oct 6 to 7 in the Qinhu Lake Scenic Area.
