As the hometown of Mei Lanfang, Taizhou has always focused on the inheritance and innovation of Peking Opera. This year's event integrated Peking Opera with other art forms such as painting, calligraphy and music, as well as the broader cultural and creative sector.
At the opening ceremony Feng Zhicheng, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Province was positive about the future of the event. He called on Taizhou to strengthen its planning, increase promotions, raise its profile and pave the way for the art week to become an annual event for cross-Strait opera art exchanges.
