Two scenic spots in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, have been selected among the first 100 curated "Beautiful China" must-visit sites unveiled at the 2026 China Ecological Culture Forum hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on June 4.
The first honoree, Lixiahe National Wetland Park, a 4A-level tourist attraction located in Qianduo town, Xinghua, spans 1,304.8 hectares with 97.22 percent of its area covered by wetlands.

Its distinct ecosystem, made up of forests and herbaceous marshes, features a sprawling aquatic forest of dawn redwoods and pond cypresses, creating a signature water-town landscape where trees grow amid crisscrossing waterways.
As East China's largest egret habitat, it hosts tens of thousands of wild birds, drawing crowds for nature photography, ecological sketching and outdoor study tours.

The other selected site, Shagou Ancient Town, is also a 4A-level scenic spot in Xinghua, with over 2,000 years of history. Surrounded by water on all sides, the town's well-preserved ancient streets and historic architecture carry profound cultural heritage, making it an ideal spot for slow, immersive wandering to soak up the charm of its water-town legacy.
