A joint exhibition of 60 excellent works by 26 calligraphers and painters who were born in Xinghua, Jiangsu province, with a focus on passing down the human-centered ideology of artist Zheng Banqiao, a renowned 18th century painter and poet, opened at the Xinghua Museum on Nov 21.
The artists are currently residing in Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu provinces. Although their styles are different, they all convey the nostalgia for their hometown and the praise of the times.
Chen Fengjian, Xinghua's Party secretary, said that Xinghua has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. The city has given rise to a large number of influential historical figures, represented by Zheng, making a notable mark on Chinese cultural heritage.
He added that Xinghua will accelerate the protection and renewal of its historical districts and make every effort to create a favorable environment for calligraphy and painting creation, supporting artists to launch more high-quality works.
